Teddi Mellencamp’s Fur Trim Star Sneakers

Teddi Mellencamp’s Fur Trim Star Sneakers

Season 10 Episode 2 Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Fashion

People always say you should walk a mile in someone else’s shoes and when it comes to Teddi Mellencamp’s fur trim star sneakers I will gladly accept the challenge. I mean they look so comfortable with the fur. Almost like house slippers on steroids, but yet an actual fashionable shoe!

I know these shoes are popular because I’ve seen them on quite a few celebs in all different variations. I can always spot them right away because of the smudged dirt look on the bottom. At first I always thought “Oh those look kinda dirty”, but then learned that they actually come like that and people pay $500+ for that dirt.

I usually try to keep up with the fashion trends for this job, but also for my own wardrobe, so finding out about this one was exciting because almost all of my white sneakers have smudges on the bottom!  Where has this trend been my whole life? Now I know I don’t have to worry anymore and can go all in the dirt  with my sneakers and be stylish, like Teddi.

Sincerely Stylish,

Jess

Natural & Organic Self Tanners For UV-Free Faux Glow

While I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that self-tanning is a solid way to avoid the sun’s aging and cancer-causing effects if you’re loyal to DIY bronzing, you know that it also offers a slew of off-label uses, whether it be camouflaging bruises and scars or concealing facial redness. Unfortunately, finding natural and organic self-tanners that aren’t chock full of toxic and foul-smelling odors isn’t exactly a breeze.

Finding an option that not only chemical-free but also won’t leave your body and skin looking like a certain, um, president or character from “Willy Wonka” isn’t exactly a fool-proof feat. Not only is a tangerine-tinged tone a potential risk when it comes to UV-free bronzing, but also have t worry about streaking, stained hands, and that distinct odor. Fortunately, opting for an organic self-tanning product is not only better for your skin, but it can also help reduce some of these common self-tanning mishaps. Regardless of your skin tone, if you’re looking for a natural-looking self-tanner that’s not laden with chemicals, you’ve come to the right place. Check out our favorite organic formulas below.

Garcelle Beauvais’ Black and White Striped Pants

Garcelle Beauvais’ Black and White Striped Pants

Season 10 Episode 2 Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Fashion

As I’m sure someone would they say, find someone who looks at you the way Garcelle Bauvais looks at Erika Jayne Girardi in this Instagram pic. Better yet, find someone who looks at you the way I look at Garcelle in those black and white striped pants.

I love a good striped wide leg pant. I have about 3 pairs as of right now, but there is ALWAYS room for more. Two of the pairs are a simple black and white, both with different sized stripes. The other pair is multi-colored and whenever I wear them my boyfriend says it reminds him of the circus *insert eye roll emoji*. I usually save that pair for brunch with the girls so I don’t have to hear it from him. I mean it’s safe to say I wear the pants in the relationship and sorry to tell ya Babe, they’re going to be striped. He does like the black and white ones though which is good because they’re my go-to. And it’s a win when my fav piece of clothing is both boyfriend and Housewives approved!

Sincerely Stylish,

Jess

5 Clean Fragrances That Won’t Make Your Sinuses Go Haywire

If you’re like me and suffer from chronic sinus problems and seasonal allergies (…and for me, it’s all of the seasons—not just the spring) or have sensitive skin, you know that finding a signature scent that doesn’t cause a rash or make you feel straight-up sick can feel downright impossible. We’ve all been there: when you walk past someone who is wearing an obscene amount of perfume, the lingering whiff that follows their every move is utterly unbearable. And while this type of “encounter” can be obnoxious for anyone to deal with (especially if there’s a repeat offender at your office) it can actually make some people physically sick.

According to one study, nearly 30 percent who were polled reported sensitivity to fragrances. Many popular perfumes and colognes are chock full of harsh and allergy-irritating chemicals that can actually function as neurotoxins when absorbed through the skin’s pores. And sure, while this isn’t exactly healthy for anyone, it’s even more troubling for those who suffer from chronic allergies and sensitive skin.

Allergic reactions to fragrances are actually classified as “irritants,” rather than “allergens” (allergens would indicate the release of histamine inside the body). Fragrances can not only cause external skin rashes and hives, but they can also trigger a histamine-release response as well. A histamine-response basically usually comes in the form of a sneeze attack, incessant sniffles and downright feeling awful, as a means of our body attempting to attack the perceived threat. Some of the most common signs of an allergy to perfume include sneezing, headaches, difficulty breathing, stuffy or runny nose, while often times topical symptoms like redness, bumps, and rashes can form as a result.

If you do have this sensitivity to fragrance, opting for a formula free of common allergy-triggers like phthalates, parabens and sulfates will help reduce the risk of getting a rash or sparking an allergy flare-up. Fortunately, there are now plenty of clean and all-natural fragrances available. Here are some of my personal favorite perfumes that smell amazing, but won’t make you feel sick or itchy.

7 Soothing Products Getting Me Through the Retinol Scaries

Preparation is a must when you’re using retinol for the first time ever. I’m not one to enter any pursuit lightly, so before selecting a product for my virgin skin, I researched. In other words, I read a lot of articles about the anti-aging, acne-clearing, wrinkle-reducing, and collagen-stimulating rewards of this wonder ingredient. Since I’m a total newbie, I knew I needed to start with a low-percentage formula to ease my skin into the fold. That meant finding the best retinol for sensitive skin.

I’m no stranger to acids or other potentially harsh skincare ingredients—I’ve used glycolic acid as well as other AHAs and BHAs in the past—but I didn’t want to throw my skin to the proverbial wolves. After consulting some of my co-workers for product recommendations and moral support, I bought a bottle of the First Aid Beauty Retinol Serum with a 0.25% concentration of retinol formulated for beginners like myself and those with sensitive skin.

My skin went through a fairly uneventful acclimation phase in the beginning; maybe a few more pimples than normal, but nothing I wasn’t prepared for. About two and a half weeks in, I started to experience the dreaded retinol scaries. The skin near my jaw and around my mouth began peeling and the vitamin C serum I used every morning started to feel more tingly than normal. Then I did something most dermatologists would probably caution against: I added a new product to my skincare routine.

Since retinol can make your skin more photo-sensitive, I’d been religious about applying SPF every day. One fateful day I switched to a face sunscreen that had some extra L-ascorbic acid because the brightening, vitamin C-laden ingredients sounded like a nice way to treat my skin. Unfortunately, this product sent my retinol purge into overdrive. I immediately broke out in a red rash and the parts of my face that were already peeling started stinging and burning too.

Not one to panic too much, I looked for the most gentle and soothing skincare products I could find. In another probably-not-derm-recommended turn, I again changed up my routine—this time switching to super calming products with zero fragrance or other irritants that would make my face angry. Because retinol can also be drying (and my skin was already molting like a snake thanks to the expedited cell turnover), I looked to products that would provide extra moisture and hydration. Now, about a week after my mishap, my skin is much happier and the burning, stinging sensation is firmly behind me.

These are the products nursing my skin through a retinol purge. I love them so much, I don’t think they’ll be leaving my medicine cabinet anytime soon.

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen

One of the most parroted pieces of advice to retinol newbies is to use a daily sunscreen since retinol can make the skin more photo-sensitive (daily sunscreen is also just good to use in general). This clear gel formula from Supergoop! agrees with my skin, even though the inclusion of Frankincense doesn’t make it completely fragrance-free.
