Maddie Ziegler Helped Morphe Create Its First Soft Glam, Ultra-Wearable Collection

When you think of Morphe makeup, “light” and “soft glam” probably aren’t the first things that come to mind. Morphe’s biggest fans love a full face beat and look to the brand for products with bold, vibrant hues. That’s why the Morphe x Maddie Ziegler Imagination Collection is such a departure for the beauty company. The 17-year-old dancer and actress worked with the Morphe team on colors and products she would use that are a bit more fresh and Gen Z-friendly. To say she’s excited about the project would be an understatement. She’s finally able to talk show her passion for makeup.

“Ever since I can remember, my dream in life was to have a makeup line,” Ziegler wrote on Instagram. “Makeup has been one of the biggest lights in my life for me. Sometimes when I can’t find the right words to say I’ll just translate it in makeup. If I’m feeling off, makeup is my way to feel better. I’ve always been able to express my emotions through makeup. It’s such a therapeutic thing for me. Just to lose myself in the look I’m doing that day.”

She goes on to thank the Morphe team for making her “dreams come true,” giving her “full control” to make the line look and feel just like she wanted. To her fans, she said: “I worked so so hard on the shades, the drawings, the packaging. everything! Go crazy, experiment and be creative!!” It’s true. According to the brand, she chose the color range and shade names that make up the collection, and her artwork is on all of the packaging and pan stamps in the eyeshadow palette.

I Took Control of My Financial Destiny in Retirement… You Can Too!

in retirement

For years I thought I had my finances and investments figured out. I had a financial advisor and felt well taken care of. I was grateful to have this smart man advise me and manage my investments for my retirement.

Whilst we never socialized, he became a trusted telephone friend. We talked about our kids, and jobs and life. He sent me Christmas and birthday cards. I thought I was set.

A few years ago, Tony Robbins published a hefty 600-page book, “Money: Master the Game.” The publicity and promotion for this book was so convincing that I bought a copy and devoured it.

Tony interviewed the most successful investors in the U.S., men (yes, they are all men… grr…) who are billionaires. They shared their investment philosophies and strategies and the stories of how they became billionaires.

The Same Rules for Investing Apply

What do financial wizards and billionaires have in common with me? The rules for investing are the same, whether you’re a billionaire or a person like me. Their advice is simple and logical. No magic tricks or secrets.

About Fury and Fear

The more I read, the more I was shocked. Why? Finally, I was reading the truth about investing. I learned about the financial services industry and its practice of hiding fees and commissions, of a financial advisor’s natural inclination to sell investments which had high fees and hidden commissions.

I learned about the power of compounding, asset allocation, and how to rebalance a portfolio – and why that is important.

The deeper I got into the book, the sicker I felt in my soul. I realized I was being manipulated by my financial advisor. He wasn’t doing it personally to me, it is just the way the industry is structured.

It was a scary moment. I realized I could no longer continue the way I had been. I called my financial advisor and asked the questions I never previously knew to ask. His uncomfortable answers convinced me even more that I would leave him and take control of my money.

Information is Power

After reading the book I felt confident enough to withdraw all my investments from my “trusted” financial advisor. I transfered them to a low-cost brokerage house that operated with fiduciaries who would give me advice when I needed it.

It was one of the scariest moments of my life. And once I did it, within months I saw the rewards of my decision, both financial and emotional. I was empowered.

What You Want is a Fiduciary

A fiduciary is a financial advisor who has no relationship to any financial products and who earns no fees or commissions from any recommendations they make to you. A fiduciary is responsible for helping you make the best decisions for you – and not for their wallet – if they make a recommendation of a particular investment.

If the person you seek advice from is not a fiduciary, walk away. If the person who manages your money is not a fiduciary, walk away. If your financial advisor is a fiduciary and something else, walk away. You want a fiduciary only.

Now I’m “Unshakeable”!

A 600-page book is a daunting read, so Tony Robbins wisely decided to slim it down into his new book, “Unshakeable.” It’s a brilliant title and a brilliant book, and yes, I suggest you read it. The book is available in many formats: audio book, hard cover, Kindle and, shortly, in paperback.

Tony’s mission is to make you feel unshakeable in your ability to take care of yourself financially and to feel unshakeable in less-than-good times.

He’s very clear in communicating the fact that the financial markets go through good times and bad. But if you are set up to be unshakeable, you will get through any financial scenario or economic crisis.

It’s Never Too Late to Take Control of Your Money in Retirement

It is never too late to do something about your financial situation. In keeping with my how to feel like a millionaire on a retirement budget series, I wanted to give you this report so that you too can review your situation and become unshakeable.

At the time I read the first book, I was in my early 60’s. I took the plunge and took control of my finances. Just by lowering the fees and banishing the high commissions I previously paid, I have experienced significant growth in only a few years, and that’s not even considering the returns of the stock market over the last several years.

So, when the market dips – which it will – I am unshakeable, thanks to Tony Robbins. And that’s the point.

This is not a paid or sponsored post. It is merely my book report and a story about my experience of how I learned about the financial services industry and the simple rules of investing.

Giving advice about money is delicate. We all have our phobias, fears, beliefs, secrets and traditions about money. Some people refuse to talk about money. The only thing I’m asking you is to consider doing some homework about your finances in whatever way feels comfortable to you.

Reading a book is private and not threatening. You can read a book and do nothing, or you can read a book and do something. Either way, you will have valuable information – and information is power.

Are you worried or excited about retirement? Or maybe a little of both? Are you satisfied with how you are handling your finances and investments? Do you feel empowered and in control, or overwhelmed by it all? What lessons and advice can you share with us regarding your financial education? Please join the discussion below!

Low-Commitment Temporary Hair Color to Switch up Your Look Without Regret

Switching up your hair color when your beauty get-up is feeling, well, a little stale, can be pretty daunting. Fortunately, there are several of low-commitment ways to re-invent yourself without breaking the bank or suffering long-term regret. Dorit Kemsley’s Versace Outfit

Dorit Kemsley’s Versace Outfit on Instagram

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills 2020 Instagram Fashion

In a follow up to her head to toe Gucci basketball outfit, yesterday Dorit Kemsley took to the ‘Gram looking very Versace for a mini photoshoot with her mini me’s. Who were, of course, also decked out in the designer.

At this point part of Dorit’s personal brand is being known for wearing designer names. And while it may be too much for some, it’s the type of content we need right now with the Housewives summer hiatus. I say Dorit should keep ’em coming! Especially when a 4 hour glam sesh won’t make you late for anything because there ain’t nowhere to go.

Sincerely Stylish,

Jess

The Most Important Routine in My Day Starts the Night Before

greeting the morning

Everyone always talks about the importance of our morning routine, and I would agree that starting our day in an intentional way sets the stage for our entire day.

I, like many, have a very routine morning. However, my – and everyone else’s – morning routine does not start when the alarm goes off. I will argue that our morning routines start the evening before.

It Begins in the Evening

Every decision that goes into our evening routine affects the amount and quality of our sleep, and, in turn, the effectiveness of our morning routines. If we eat dinner late, drink too much wine, or stay up past our bedtime, our routine the next morning will be affected. As will the entire day.

My morning and evening routines have been a work in progress throughout my entire adult life. And they change and evolve as my daily schedule and priorities do. They look much different today than they did when I had two young boys at home and was managing their schedules as well as my own.

Nowadays, I need to be the best that I can be to manage my job, my writing, seeing my grandchildren as often as I possibly can, helping with our senior parents, and squeezing in a date night with my husband! My nighttime routine is instrumental in making all of that happen for me each day.

The Four Components of an Effective Nighttime Routine

There are four building blocks that will determine how well rested you will be in the morning:

Knowing When to End Your Day

If you are still working, your nighttime routine begins the minute you put work away for the day. If you are retired, it should begin at around the same time each evening.

For me, this is somewhere between 5pm and 6pm each night. I review my journal entry from the morning and jot down a few things about my day in my journal. Some examples include:

  • How the day went – what I did well and what I could have done better.
  • How I’m feeling physically and/or emotionally.
  • Why I’m looking forward to tomorrow and why tonight’s evening routine is so important.

I then shut off my computer and vow to look at my phone as little as possible. If I’m honest, some evenings I’m more successful at this than others, depending on what’s happened during the day.

Healthy Eating and Drinking Choices Throughout the Entire Evening

You need to be intentional when deciding what to put into your body each night and when. An ideal dinner should be ¾ green, plant based foods and should be eaten no later than 7:30pm. The earlier the better. This helps both with quality of sleep as well as weight loss or maintenance.

Limit your alcohol intake and establish a clear signal that tells your brain you’re done with food for the evening. For me, this is a cup of herbal tea. Once I drink this, I’m finished eating or drinking anything else other than water.

Other signals might include an after dinner drink of some sort, a particular television show, or taking the dog for a walk. It doesn’t matter what you choose. Just do it each night. Eventually, your brain will learn this habit, and it will become effortless for you.

Maintaining a Clear and Consistent Pre-Bedtime Routine

My pre-bedtime routine is simple: By 8:30pm each night I am washing my face, laying out my clothes for the next morning, and turning on an episode of whatever my current Netflix fave is.

Yours will be different. However, laying out clothes for the next day is a highly recommended component – it makes your morning more effortless.

Defining a Consistent Bedtime Routine

Close the day at the same time each night. Your cell phone should be in another room with the alarm set. Research shows that the blue light on the phone interferes with sleep and the production of melatonin. And having the phone in the next room when the alarm goes off will ensure that you get right out of bed to start your morning routine.

Spend 15-30 minutes doing something quiet – meditating, listening to music, or reading a book.

Turn the light out and sleep tight!

What is your nighttime routine? How does it affect your morning routine and the next day for you? What would you change? What do you love best about it? Please share below and let’s have a conversation!
