Believe it or not this is actually our first Paige DeSorbo post of the season (hey, we didn’t have time to cover the show until RHONJ started winding down, she’s been spending a lot of time with her boyfriend lately, and her stuff’s been unusually hard to find!). And while we know that you’re probably anxious to get more of her style into your closet, we’re sorry to report that you may have to wait at least another week since her yellow asymmetrical dress is totally sold out (not that you would have anywhere to wear it right now anyway).

I never thought about making turmeric tea until my last visit to India. On the trip, a good friend of mine introduced me to the diverse flavors of this magical drink. There was something about the spices, milk and honey that set my taste buds on fire. I absolutely loved it and I’ve been drinking turmeric tea every day since then.

What Are the Potential Benefits of Turmeric Tea?

As you probably know, turmeric has many fantastic healing properties. For starters, it is anti-inflammatory and packed with antioxidants.

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, it may also be helpful in the treatment of indigestion, stomach ulcers, osteoarthritis, heart disease and even cancer.

Of course, none of this should be considered medical advice, but, it may give you something to discuss with your doctor if you are suffering from any of these conditions.

My Favorite Turmeric Tea Recipe

Turmeric tea brings together some of my absolute favorite flavors. The spices, milk and honey combine in truly magical ways. Here’s what you will need to make your very own homemade turmeric tea.

Note: In the following recipe, a “pinch” is about 1/8 of a teaspoon.

1 teaspoon of turmeric powder

1 cup of filtered water

A pinch of black pepper

A pinch of powdered ginger

1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

A pinch of nutmeg

1/2 inch ginger root, sliced

A pinch of allspice, for flavor (optional)

A milk product of your choice. I’m using almond milk (optional)

Honey (optional)

Black pepper greatly helps your body to absorb turmeric. So, if you’re not allergic to black pepper, feel free to add some to any turmeric dish that you prepare.

How to Make This Magical Drink

Making turmeric tea is super easy. First, bring your water to a boil in a sauce pan. Then, add all of your ingredients. Let the tea cook for about 10 minutes.

Once your turmeric tea is ready, all you need to do is strain it into a cup and add milk and honey for flavor. That’s it! Wonderful turmeric tea in less than 15 minutes!
