I’m Drooling Over J.Lo’s Blunt Curtain Bangs

I got curtain bangs a few months ago, basically after every other celebrity got them and it was just too tempting not to succumb. They’re fun to wear in a flipped out, ’70s style but J.Lo’s blunt curtain bangs are making me rethink everything. Her longtime stylist Chris Appleton posted a photo of Lopez’s ultra-straight hair and bangs, a pretty new look for her. “What do you think [of] today’s look Blunt Curtain bangs on JLO?” he wrote.

I don’t know what they’re shooting with Lopez in Miami but she’s glowing with her straight bangs framing her face. The glam makeup is by Scott Barnes, of course. It looks to be plum smoky eyes and her signature pink-nude lips. If you look closely, her nails are a bit of a departure from her usual look. We’re used to seeing her with long, sparkly talons but these are shorter and a deep maroon shade.

It seems like the curtain bangs trend isn’t going anywhere. Just take a look at Gen Z faves Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter, as well as Ashley Benson and Ariana Grande. It’s an easy style that grows out nicely without a ton of work, which makes them a low-maintenance look even if you don’t think you’ll head to the salon very often. As they grow, you can tuck them behind your ears and then they’ll eventually just look like long layers right into your hair.

Then, when you’re ready to rock them again like Rodrigo, you can just go get them trimmed up a bit. Curtain bangs work on all hair textures too and look especially chic on curls. Just make sure you go to a stylist who specializes in cutting curly hair so your shorter ringlets are bouncy and defined. Curtain bangs for everyone!

What Is Your Online Dating Score?

online dating score

With over 1400 dating apps/platforms available these days in cyberspace, how do you choose the right one? Once you have chosen, do you know what you are looking for? Do you know which photos will gain the best traction for you online? How will you describe yourself? Do you seek friends’ assistance with all/some of the content on your online dating profile?

I am not here to make this complicated; rather, I’m here to simplify things for you! So, here are some simple tips, followed by a Dating Quiz that will rate your dating efforts from an A to a (gulp) F.

Choose a Dating Site with the Right Demographics for You

A bit of research online (or a good dating coach) can give you an idea of some sites that resonate with your age and demographics. I recently had a 65-year-old marketing executive (female) who was gifted a dating membership for Mother’s Day to Tinder! Maybe her 20- and 30-something kids thought they were helping – but wrong site for this Mom!

Know Your Goals

If you have been recently widowed or divorced, your goals may be vastly different from someone who is 55 and never married. I have found many of my widowed/divorced clients would like to dip their toes in the dating pond and find some nice men to initially meet and re-gain their self-confidence in dating after being with one person for 20-30 years.

On the other hand, someone who has been dating the last few years actively may right off the bat be looking for a serious relationship.

Don’t Underestimate Photos

Oh, photos! Your goal should always be to have 5-8 photos ready to post, showing you in different aspects of your life – perhaps golfing, walking your dog, gardening, skiing, giving a presentation, laughing with friends, a holiday photo.

Most photos should be of you alone – not selfies – and let us see your beautiful eyes and hair. (Hint: remove the sunglasses and hat!)

Make Every Word Count

Describing or writing about yourself can be difficult and often frightens some singles off online dating altogether! Reach out a hand for help to 2-3 of your girlfriends and ask them each to describe you in 4-6 words.

There is your answer! (Note: I would recommend some discretion with this as you do not want to be put off by a naysayer who has had a bad experience with online dating. Remember: 1 of 3 couples in the last years met and married via online dating.)

Fill in Your Info

Once you have chosen the site, fill out the information that the site wants – 100% of it! This will increase your odds. I have a successful 62-year-old male client who posted one photo and wondered why women were not flocking to him. I am happy to report with a few fixes he is meeting the type of women he’d hoped he’d meet online!

Ready for your Dating Score and some fun, adventure and exploration? It’s time to find your Dating Score and how you rate! Have fun!

How many different dating apps have you tried? Have you looked specifically for an app that caters to your demographic of interest? Do you think you know everything about online dating, or is there a lot you still need to learn? How did you score on the dating quiz? Let’s chat!

These Smudge-Proof Mascaras are Total Game-Changers for Hooded Eyes

I don’t know about you, but mascara is usually one of the last steps in my makeup routine. As the saying goes, you save the best for last, and, yes, this applies to mascara too. When it comes to finding the right mascara to finish off an eye look sometimes it can be difficult. As if trying to prevent clumping and transfer wasn’t difficult enough, finding the best mascara for hooded eyes is even more of a challenge.

If you don’t know what hooded eyes are, here’s a quick overview. Those with hooded eyes usually have a heavy brow bone with a deep-set crease. This is typically caused by an extra fold of skin that covers a majority of the eyelid, which makes it appear smaller. Since there’s less surface area so to speak, it can be a bit of a struggle to achieve a full makeup look without eyeshadow completely disappearing, eyeliner smudging, and mascara transferring to the brow bone.

For reference, celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence, Blake Lively and Emma Stone all have hooded eyelids — and yet they always manage to pull off stunning looks with eyes that pop, so we know that it’s possible for us too.

Sure, using a water-proof mascara can definitely help prevent the dreaded raccoon eye situation, but for those of us with hooded eyes, we need a transfer-proof formula that will not only stay put, but that’ll also boost volume and define each lash.

We’ve gathered ten of the best mascaras hooded eyes ranging from plant-based and vegan formulas to conditioning and hydrating options to add another dimension to your next eye look. Whether you’re looking for a drugstore find or a higher-end mascara, we’ve got you covered.

Our mission at STYLECASTER is to bring style to the people, and we only feature products we think you’ll love as much as we do. Please note that if you purchase something by clicking on a link within this story, we may receive a small commission of the sale.

Jennifer Aydin’s White Lace Sleeve Dress

Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 11 Finale Fashion

On last night’s Real Housewives of New Jersey Jennifer and Bill Aydin’s daughter Olivia threw them an adorable 18th anniversary dinner. And Jennifer, playing the part of the perfect bride, wore an affordable white lace sleeve dress to the occasion. And it’s a good thing it was she saved on her look, because a little canary told me 9 carat yellow diamonds aren’t cheap to come by. Just to be sure, I think I’ll have my husband check in to it …

Paige DeSorbo’s Blow Dryer Brush

Paige DeSorbo’s Blow Dryer Brush on Instastories

Summer House Instagram Beauty 2021

In case you missed it Paige DeSorbo took to Instastories recently to show us a blow dryer brush from Amazon that she claims as a naturally pin-straight haired-gal, completely “changed her life.” And not only that, but she documented all of the steps she takes to get that perfect ‘90s bouncy wave, which you better believe we took detailed notes on down below*:

1.) When hair is wet apply IGK Big Time Volume and Thickening Mousse

2.) Blow dry hair normally

3.) Go over it with the L’Ange Blow Dryer Brush (do not use on wet hair)

4.) While hair is still hot use rollers and clips (these are the ones she uses) to roll bangs and the front pieces of your hair back. Leave in for 20-30 minutes

5.) Apply IGK Beach Club Volumizing Texture Spray

6.) Apply Garnier Fructis Full Control Hairspray (Paige has been using this since high school!)

Your welcome!

Fashionably,

Faryn
