Fall 2025 trends are as bonkers as usual; however there is a trend called Toasty Makeup that makes my skirt fly up. For all you gorgeous women out there who love warm browns, but feel like, if you wear them, you’ll look flat and dated, I have a news flash; you can wear them and be current this year! Yah!
Gone are the days of heavy contour and matte finishes (finally, those trends were running on fumes IMO). This year’s makeup is all about soft blur skin, warm bronze tones, and smudgy, diffused eyes that create a radiant, sultry look that celebrates mature beauty.
Let’s walk through a step-by-step fall makeover with my model and friend, Sally. You’ll learn how to achieve breathable coverage, glowing warmth, and a modern finish that flatters your features and your age.
Step 1: Breathable Skin with a Soft Blur Finish
At the base of the toasty trend is real skin; breathable, radiant, and softly blurred. For mature complexions, heavy foundations can exaggerate texture, so the key is light coverage that enhances rather than hides.
Start with CC Cream, applying a thin layer using your fingertips, a sponge (not a beauty blender, just toss that in the rubbish; they apply too much product on mature skin), or a brush. Focus on the center of the face and blend outward for a soft, natural finish. The goal is to even out tone while letting your skin glow through.
This breathable base creates a “your-skin-but-better” effect that feels fresh, modern, and forgiving on mature skin. Think of it as a soft filter, not a mask; perfect for that Fall 2025 “soft blur” look.
Step 2: Add Warmth with a Toasty Bronzer
Next, bring warmth and depth with bronzer; your star product for the toasty makeup look. Unlike harsh contouring, this technique focuses on natural warmth where the sun would hit: temples, cheeks, and jawline.
Use a brush appropriate for your product (cream or powder bronzer) and sweep the bronzer lightly along the high points of the face. This technique mimics sunlight, creating that sun-kissed bronze that defines the toasty tones trend. As we lose our summer color, I don’t know about you, but continuing to warm up my face with bronzer is fab.
For mature skin, avoid sharp lines and blend well to achieve a soft, seamless warmth. The result? A healthy, radiant glow that feels effortless and timeless.
Step 3: Cloud Blush in Terracotta Tones
The next layer of warmth is blush, and terracotta is this season’s go-to shade. Rich, earthy, and universally flattering, it ties perfectly into the toasty, autumn palette.
Apply a terracotta blush to the apples of your cheeks, blending upward toward your temples. This technique lifts the face, creating a soft-focus “cloud blush” effect – a major Fall 2025 makeup trend.
This look isn’t about precision; it’s about diffusion. Think of a soft, hazy warmth across the cheeks for a youthful, glowing flush that brightens the complexion and complements every skin tone. I love a strong warm blush with a glossy lip, but I’m getting ahead of myself.
Step 4: Smudgy, Not Boring Brown Eyes
Fall’s eye look is all about depth with softness. It’s a move away from crisp lines toward smudged, blurred shapes. Enter the three smoky browns I used on Sally. They rock, you’ll see.
Using cream eyeshadows in Espresso, Toffee, and Nebula, we are creating a gradient of toasty, dimensional color:
- Apply Toffee over the lid and crease as a warm base.
- Blend Espresso into the crease and along the eyeline for soft depth.
- Use Nebula to diffuse any edges and darken the outer edge of the eye.
Then line with Mocha Shimmer eyeliner, smudging gently with a brush or fingertip to achieve that grunge-glam blur trending for Fall 2025. This technique adds definition without harshness, perfect for eyes that prefer a softer touch.
Finish by grooming brows with Silver Queen eyebrow pencil and eyebrow gel. On Sally, filling in her brows really opens up her face and adds a glamorous and modern feel. Remember, though, keep them natural and softly shaped without any over-carving or ultra-definition. (That was soooooo last year! 🙂 )
Step 5: A Succulent, Hydrated Pout
The toasty look wouldn’t be complete without a succulent pout – lips that look soft, hydrated, and plump.
On Sally, I lined with a neutral shade to gently define her lips, then I layered Lip Balm in Nude Glow for moisture and shine. The finish should be glossy and juicy, not matte or drying.
For mature lips, this approach enhances volume and minimizes texture. Choose tones in warm nude, peach, or caramel to complement the toasty bronze palette.
Why the Toasty Trend Works for Mature Skin
What makes this look special is its balance:
- Warmth brings life to the complexion.
- Soft blur textures smooth and flatter.
- Smudged definition enhances eyes without harshness.
- Hydrated finishes add youthfulness.
It’s not about trying to look like a 20-year-old Instagram influencer; you’re looking to enhance your natural radiance in a way that feels current, confident, and true to you.
The toasty makeup trend celebrates mature beauty; glowing, graceful, and timeless with a bit of sultry sass mixed in.
