Gone are the days you have to spend hours learning to knit or following tutorials for DYI blankets, major brands (and don’t forget Etsy shop owners) have coveted a corner of the market when it comes to crafty home goods. I like a good project from time to time but let’s be real, its so much easier to buy stuff already done. Besides, I have at least three blankets partially started with no end in sight already. Kristin Cavallari’s white polka dot dress looked cute when it was initially semi-modeled by Jay Cutler in their closet, where a lot of golden moments of the show happen. However it jumped up a notch from cute to super hot when Kristin took it out of the closet and wore it in Mexico.

This whole closet scene further reaffirms a few things about me needing a major walk in like this. 1) It’s necessary to make cute moments happen with Big Blonde Husband. It would be great for our relationship. 2) Outfits clearly look 100x better outside of it than inside, so I’ll totally look as good as Kristin in anything I walk out in.

Yard sales are also rich sources of second-hand treasures. Think of how many goodies the kids can amass for less than 10 bucks. Consider bartering for small tables or bedroom furniture to paint or refurbish with each child. They will delight in choosing the pieces and the colors with you.

The Power of the Purse Comes with Tough Choices

A trip to grandma’s house should not be an open invitation to raid her piggy bank. Give the tots a daily stipend and the ability to decide how to spend it. You can provide a list of activities including the cost of admission for each.

Make sure to include free alternatives as well. Explain how much money will remain for sweets or toys with each choice. The discussion will help them prioritize and budget for the day. In fact, teaching them that ‘fun money’ is limited will benefit them for years to come.

Cooking is Fun and Less Expensive than Going Out

The ability to prepare tasty, yet inexpensive food will foster fiscal well-being throughout a child’s life. You can share family recipes and discover new favorites along the way as you introduce your grandkids to the joy of cooking.

After you have chosen a meal, make a list of ingredients and head out to the store. Grocery shopping will teach youngsters the costs of common items and help them identify rarer products they have not encountered before.

Be certain to give them a high five as you show them your receipt total. Celebrate a job well done.

While it’s not your responsibility to transform your progeny into financial wizards, you can easily incorporate small doses of fiscal wisdom into your time with them. Your grandkids will not only remember the lessons you taught them but cherish the memories you created together.

Kristin Cavallari’s white cut out swimsuit in her shoot in Mexico made a hard day’s work look easy. They say Rome wasn’t built in a day, but the Uncommon James shoot sure was! I was a little shocked at how fast they got it all done, but wouldn’t expect anything less of Kristin Cavallari and her amazing team. Though I blinked and it was over there were certainly a lot of looks, this one being one of my favs. The whole UJ shoot just made me want my toes in the sand, a drink in my hand, and this swimsuit in my closet.

Back in 2015 Kyle Richards’ wore a black cape blazer on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and I bought it. I wore it a ton, but for the past few couple it’s been hanging in my closet unworn. Thanks to Kristin Cavallari and her black cape blazer at Justin and Scoot’s housewarming party on Very Cavallari, it’s about it to get some time to shine once again. Because while I was pairing it with jeans and leather pants, Kristin has updated the look with a pair of black shorts and heels, which are pieces I already have in my closet. And for the first time ever, this job just saved me some money.
