11 Organizers That Will Turn Your Lipstick Collection Into a Work of Art

When I actually make time for it, organizing my beauty products induces a very specific kind of satisfaction. For one, I’ve finally made sense of the pile sitting in my living room corner (the usual spot for things I bring home and take forever to actually use). Second, I’m reminded of the “love at first sight” moment I had with certain products and get excited all over again about using them. But perhaps the most gratifying part of this process is knowing that once everything is in its proper place, it’ll look so good. Anyone with a beauty organizer knows what I’m talking about. And if you have any of the best lipstick organizers specifically, it’s basically a Marie Kondo-inspired art piece.

Seeing multiple versions of the same product lined up according to height or color is a neat freak’s dream come to life. It’s also just the responsible thing to do if you’re investing in so many things and want to actually use it all. Lipstick tubes are notorious for rolling under furniture, sinking to the bottom of purses, and getting covered in other makeup. So while any of these lipstick organizers would make for an Instagrammable moment, they’re also practical and space-saving, too. Check out 11 options in a variety of shapes and colors for varying budgets.

Tinsley Mortimer’s I Love My Mom Tee

Tinsley Mortimer’s I Love My Mom Tee While Boxing

Real Housewives of New York Season 12 Episode 7 Fashion

Probably much to her delight, Dale Mercer received an amazing belated Mother’s Day gift last night considering her daughter Tinsdale Tinsley Mortimer wore this “I Love My Mom” tee while boxing on RHONY. And tbh we wouldn’t be surprised if the next graphic tee we report on Tins wearing is the “Favorite Daughter” Style Stealer down below as a thank you gift from the one and only TinsDale.

Fashionably,

These Ponytail Extensions Are My Quick Secret To Looking Glam on Zoom

I’m the kind of person that likes to look put-together at all times, but doesn’t enjoy spending hours getting ready. OK, I do like spending hours getting ready to go out for real, but given that most of my social interactions at the moment take place on Zoom, I’m not about to spend any extra time perfecting my winged liner or curling my hair. That’s why I’ve decided to share with you all my Insert Name Here ponytail hair extension review and let you in on my secret for looking good in seconds. I first discovered INH Hair after seeing all the floating ponytails in Ariana Grande’s Vogue “In My Head” music video, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. If you like getting compliments on your hair, changing up your look with ease and making basically zero effort, read on.

I have naturally quite thick, long hair, so I’d never felt the urge to try extensions in the past. It wasn’t until celebs like Grande made extra-long ponies a “thing” that I started to wish I had a little more hair to work with. Even so, the idea of getting long extensions and creating updos on the daily seemed tedious and impractical, so I resigned myself to be just one of those people without an incredible ponytail. Womp womp. When I first heard about INH Hair (which specializes in ponytail extensions but also offers standard extensions, bangs, buns and other clip-in hair options), I decided to treat myself to the Miya, a super-long ponytail hailed as “the 30-second dream pony.” I wore it to an Ariana Grande concert, the compliments rolled in, and I was totally obsessed.

Since then, I’ve amassed quite the collection of INH ponytails, and I was all ready for a glam summer of stepping out with all my new lewks. Things changed when stay-at-home orders came into effect, and I spent the first month of self-isolation wearing grubby sweats with my dirty hair up in a bun, convinced there was no point in getting ready. It took me a while to realize doing my hair and makeup provided the sense of normalcy I craved in these uncertain times, and now I make an effort to look at least somewhat presentable each and every day.

That said, I’m still not about to spend hours primping for a few minutes on Zoom or FaceTime, so I’ve been reaching for my ponies more than ever before. Are they extra AF? Yes, they are. Do I feel like a bad betch when I wear them? Yes, I do. You might not have considered pairing extensions with your stay-at-home sweats before, but I’m here to sell you on the idea. Read on for a look at three of my all-time favorite INH clip-in ponytails, and consider snagging one (or a few!) for yourself.

The Brit

STYLECASTER | INH Ponytail Extension Review

Because I have a dark-brown-to-blonde balayage, I can wear my extensions in either Honey Blonde or Mixed Brown, depending on whether I want to match my roots or my ends, which allows me to really change up my look. I chose the Brit Ponytail in Honey Blonde for some Barbie cheerleader vibes, and I think it’s my favorite of the bunch.

Since INH ponies are made with synthetic fibers, you can use a little heat depending on the product, but you can’t get the original texture back, so for the most part, you’re better off buying the pony pre-styled to your liking. I prefer the Brit over the Miya because the ends aren’t totally stick-straight, and the result is a slightly more natural look.

The Shayla

STYLECASTER | INH Ponytail Extension Review

My natural hair has a lot more texture than the Brit pony, so I usually quickly straighten my ends before clipping her in. Cue the Shayla Ponytail in Mixed Brown, which boasts a beachy spiral curl. I’m obsessed! I originally worried that the Shayla would be too heavy, but I honestly love the look—especially when I wear it lower on the head. I also think she’d look bomb in a braid, for what it’s worth!

I made sure to snap my Shayla selfie in a low pony to show you guys how versatile the INH ponies really are. Plus, clipping in the extension is easy AF: You put your own hair in a ponytail or bun, insert the clip, wrap the ponytail around your base and secure it using the attached velcro. All INH ponies also come with one curled strand that you can wrap around your ponytail base to mask the velcro and finish off the look. That extra strand is what makes the quality of their products stand out, in my opinion. It really gives a polished end result!

The Kacey

STYLECASTER | INH Ponytail Extension Review

Last but not least is INH’s newest ponytail, the Kacey in Mixed Brown, which is not not inspired by the iconic Kacey Musgraves. The INH team designed Kacey to be the ultimate festival szn pony, but that doesn’t mean I won’t rock her to Zoom happy hour! While it might not be appropriate for your next Zoom business meeting, I highly recommend throwing on the Kacey on a day when quarantine has you down. It’ll instantly lift your spirits!

All in all, I’m sure it’s not hard to see why I stan INH Hair so hard. If you’ve ever felt like ponytail extensions weren’t your thing, I strongly recommend trying one (most of INH’s are around $50 bucks) and seeing how you like it. I can almost guarantee you’ll never waste time styling your hair again. If Ariana Grande has taught me one thing—beside the fact that God is a women, of course—it’s that ponytail extensions are the move. Highly recommend!

Boost Your 401K in Your 50s and 60s with These 4 Simple Tricks

Boost Your 401K in Your 50s and 60s with These 4 Simple Tricks

If you are in your 50s and 60s and haven’t saved enough for retirement, there are 3 short words that will kill all of your future dreams… “It’s too late.” In reality, there is plenty that we can do in the years leading up to retirement to give our 401K a boost. We just need to know where to start!

So, to look into this issue, I recently invited financial expert, Pam Krueger, to sit down with me for a quick chat. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Pam and her work, you are in for a treat!

Pam Krueger is the creator of MoneyTrack, a TV series about personal finance and investing. She is also the founder of Wealthramp, a website that helps savers to connect with Fiduciary Advisors in the U.S.

Please join Pam and me as we discuss what you can do to light a rocket under your 401K in your 50s or 60s.

It’s Never Too Late! So, Don’t Bury Your Head in the Sand!

Pam points out that, if you are in your 50s or 60s, this is the perfect time to invest in your future. It’s never too late! Everyone talks about the importance of investing early, but, in fact, there are several secret advantages that older savers have. We’ll get to those a bit later.

The sad truth is that many of us don’t look at our retirement accounts, including our 401K, until we actually retire. Instead, we bury out heads in the sand and hope for the best… or we just avoid the psychological pain of learning the truth about our financial situations.

As Pam says, “To not look at what you have available, while you are still working, is like walking away from free money. You want to look at how you can turbo-charge your 401K in the years before retirement. At the very least, make sure that you are getting the full, matched contribution, if your employer does offer a match… which about half do!”

Find Out About Health Savings Accounts

Not every company offers this, but, some do. If you haven’t heard of a Health Savings Account before, you’re in for a treat. Not only are they tax efficient, like an IRA, but, withdrawals made to cover medical costs are, typically, not taxed. Unlike what I (and many others) thought… you don’t have to use the money in one year. This is a big deal!

According to Pam, “If you have an HSA (Health Savings Account) this is a potential game-changer… and I’ll tell you why. This is my favorite benefit. It lets you put away money for retirement in a super tax-efficient way.”

Are You Ready to “Catch-Up?”

Many people don’t realize that, in the U.S., the government gives you a way to legally, “catch-up” and put more away for retirement, as you get a little older.

According to Pam, “If you are over 50 and you meet the qualifications, which isn’t difficult to do, you can put an extra $6,000 into your 401K plan, per year. This is called the “catch-up” prevision. For IRAs, it’s an extra $1,000… not much, but, still important!”

Look Into a Roth IRA

Not everyone will be eligible for a Roth IRA, but, if you are, Pam says that this is definitely something that you should look into. As always, these financial concepts can be a bit complicated – and you should definitely talk to a financial advisor – but, the basic idea is that a Roth IRA lets you pay post-tax income to fund a retirement account. This means that, when you retire, you won’t need to pay tax on the growth of your Roth IRA.

Of course, the big question here is whether your tax level will be lower or higher when you retire… this could make a big difference on whether a Roth IRA makes sense for you. But, as I said, this is definitely a powerful option to discuss with a Financial Planner.

Pam and I covered so many topics regarding the best ways to supercharge your 401K and IRA in the years leading up to retirement. I hope that you will take the time to watch the interview and that it has a positive impact on your financial life.

What are you doing to boost your retirement savings in your 50s or 60s? Did you know about Health Savings Accounts and the other options mentioned in this video? Let’s have a conversation!

What Technology Can Make Living Alone Less Scary for Seniors? Explore These 4 Options!

What Technology Can Make Living Alone Less Scary for Seniors

They say there is safety in numbers. But that isn’t always possible, especially as we age. Fortunately, over the past decade, technology has evolved to help make living alone safer for seniors.

There are many apps and devices available that can provide an extra level of personal safety and make life a little easier. Knowledge of the availability of such options is vital, and often the limiting factor. Honestly, being prepared means setting yourself up with these tools before they are “needed.”

Daily Check-Ins

For seniors living alone, daily check-ins can relieve a lot of tension or pressure. That is where Snug Safety comes in.

Snug is an app that makes a quick check-in part of the daily routine. Using the app is easy – you just tap the big green button. In response, you hear a motivational quote and are marked good for the rest of the day.

If the button isn’t pushed, the app will send a message to an emergency contact, so they can personally reach out and confirm everything is OK.

Fall Detectors

A big concern with living alone is the risk of a fall. If you suddenly find yourself on the floor and can’t get up, you are going to have to use your voice or some other method to summon help. Fortunately, fall detection technology continues to expand. There are multiple options to help in these situations.

The Apple Watch Series 4 and later have fall detection. (You can only use an Apple Watch if you have an Apple iPhone.) The watch taps you on the wrist, sounds an alarm, and displays an alert when it detects a hard fall.

You can choose to contact emergency services or tap “dismiss” on the warning. If the watch detects that you have not moved for a minute, it will call emergency services without you having to do anything.

Another option is the “FallSafety Home” personal alert app, which uses intelligent fall detection and automatic alerts for emergency assistance. It works with a smartphone or any Apple Watch.

The app is free if there is just one emergency contact. If there are more, you have to jump up to the paid version of the app.

One of my preferred recommendations for all people living alone is having a digital assistant or a smart speaker. A smart speaker allows you to use your voice to summon help. With the Google Home or Amazon Echo, you can send a text to a loved one or neighbor or call emergency services easily and quickly.

I highly recommend putting multiple speakers within range of where you could fall. The prices have dropped incredibly, making this an affordable solution. Learning how to use these devices is also relatively quick.

Depending upon where you live, there are medical alert services. Usually, they offer a pendant or bracelet that can be used to trigger a call for help in case of an emergency.

While those systems can be beneficial, if one isn’t wearing the device, they can’t be activated. If you are considering this route, be sure to investigate how you would trigger the emergency response if you don’t have the pendant on you.

Video Doorbells

Smart home doorbells are another development that can provide peace of mind for those who live alone. It allows you to screen who is at the door with your phone, so you don’t have to open the door or be seen by the visitor.

You don’t even have to be home to use the app on your phone if someone is at your door. All you need is a stable Wi-Fi connection to the doorbell itself to get this going.

Built-In Smartphone Safety Features

Smartphones have some built-in safety features that can help anyone, especially seniors.

The “Medical ID” on the iPhone or Emergency info on Android phones is like a virtual medical ID bracelet. It delivers critical health and contact information an emergency worker may need if someone is not responsive, even when the phone is locked.

SOS mode on smartphones allows you to alert the authorities of a situation when you aren’t able to call them yourself.

As I mentioned at the outset, the time to set-up and learn how to use many of the tools discussed here is not when you are ill or hurt. Now is the time to be prepared for any emergency that might occur.

The key to using these apps and devices in a crisis is to not be overwhelmed. If you learn and practice routinely, you’ll know enough of what to do when the need arises.

Make sure you have multiple solutions that fit your needs, that you can easily access, and know how to use. A phone full of apps or a room full of devices that you don’t know how to use is not going to be beneficial to anyone.

What technology do you use to help keep you more independent, regardless of your age? Have you been in a situation where an app or device helped keep you safe? We would love to hear from you so please engage below.
