Jennifer Aniston & Hailey Bieber’s Favorite Face Sculptor Brand Just Launched a Brand-New Device & It’s Selling Fast

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, STYLECASTER may receive an affiliate commission.

There’s a reason why celebs like Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Miranda Kerr never seem to age, and why Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid have such sharp cheekbones and jawlines. All of these beautiful women turn to NuFace’s face sculpting devices to achieve a tighter, more lifted look. Sure, gua shas, facial rollers and those little ice globes can do the trick, but NuFace’s devices are much stronger and yield amazing results.

Known for its Trinity and Mini face tools, the brand just launched an upgraded version of its predecessors, the Mini+, a tiny, smart-technology microcurrent device that contours and tones your face.

First let us explain microcurrent technology, because while it sounds like some daunting term from high school science class, it’s actually quite simple. “Microcurrent is a low-level current that mimics the body’s natural ionic flow and has been clinically tested to safely and effectively address a variety of skin concerns,” per the brand. Such concerns include lymphatic drainage, product penetration, recovery of damaged tissue, retraining of facial muscles, fine lines and wrinkles, circulation and skin elasticity.

Microcurrent has been around in the medical space since the 1970s, according to the brand, and is more commonly found in spas and medical offices rather than in homes. That’s why NuFace’s devices are so groundbreaking and convenient.

The Mini+ is unique in that it features app-exclusive NuFace 3-Depth Technology that customizes to treat your personal skin and muscles. It instantly smooths visible signs of aging and over time, you’ll notice your face looking tighter and more lifted.

The brand recently held a limited 24-hour release and the Mini+ sold out in just 50 minutes. If this is any indication of how popular the device is about to be, shop yours right away for $245 at NuFace. Two of the three colorways are already out of stock, so act fast!

Besides the Mini+ device, the set also includes the Aqua Gel Activator, the Silk Crème Activator, the Clean Sweep Applicator Brush, a power adapter and a user manual. You shouldn’t have any trouble getting started because NuFace’s app provides tutorials created by professionals, a selfie tracker so you can see your own progress and reminders so you don’t accidentally skip a day.

For cheekbones as high as Bella’s and an ageless complexion like Jen An’s, the brand suggests you massage your face with the Mini+ for at least five minutes a day, five times a week. Once you’re past the first 60 days of use on that schedule, you can go down to two to three times a week.

Customize your massage sesh by switching between the three intensity levels (the LED indicator lights show which one you’re on). The skin-tightening mode reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while the instant-lift mode tones, lifts and contours. If your complexion is craving something more, try the pro-toning mode for deep toning.

No matter which setting you use, your face is sure to look like it was contoured by the gods. If all of Hollywood uses these microcurrent devices to keep their skin healthy and youthful-looking, there’s no reason it can’t work for you, too. So, set down your jade gua sha and get started with the Mini+ for both instant and long-term results.

If you already purchased the Mini+ and would like more options, check out Dermstore’s anniversary sale. It includes tons of NuFace products for 25 percent off with the code CHEERS. Snag the Trinity, Mini and other skincare products from the brand before the sale ends on August 17.

The Power of Music to Transport Us Places

power of music

It was a damp Seattle evening in May, as I settled into my seat at Benaroya Hall to hear the Seattle Symphony. I was attending an event with a friend, and it was our “pre Mother’s Day treat” to ourselves.

Dinner and the Symphony!

But that evening was a special night as it was one of their “pops” concerts. A Tribute to The Vinyl Years, A Classic Song Book! We were looking forward to hearing the orchestra and vocalists perform music from The Dobbie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Styx and Billy Joel.

Little did I know that I would experience something in that performance that I will never forget. I get a bit emotional just thinking back to the moment!

My Magic Carpet Ride

Midway through the performance the orchestra began to play Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin and soon after that famous intro the vocalists joined in… That old familiar song that was released in November of 1971 which some say is the greatest rock song of all time.

In 1971, I was attending Mango Junior High in Sunnyvale, California. (Back when Sunnyvale was a small community with groves of cherry trees, long before Silicon Valley!) I had heard this song a million times, even danced to it in those junior high years on the dance floor.

This evening in May, when the symphony played, I was suddenly carried away not only to that junior high dance floor but my entire youth growing up in Sunnyvale. As I sat in the auditorium with everyone listening to the same song, I was magically transported.

It’s a feeling I will never forget as I felt like I was on a magic carpet, flying around my town looking down and observing all the different memories from living there. My trips to the library, bike rides on the “bumpety road,” picking up flowers at the flower stand to surprise my mom, pizza with my family prior to being dropped off at the dance.

While I was being transported, I heard the orchestra, but I didn’t hear the lyrics because I was enjoying this wonderful ride. Normally, I would resist this experience and say that I needed to pay attention to the symphony, but I was allowing myself to have this “out of body experience” and when the song was over, I had landed back in Seattle and my 60-year self.

I was filled with an overwhelming sense of emotion at the end of the song. The symphony gave me a wonderful gift of remembering so many things that I hadn’t recalled in many years.

The Power of Music

We hear about the power of music and its ability to reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, improve sleep and mental alertness. Perhaps you’ve had that experience where you’ve been having one of those days until a great song is played and your mood suddenly lifts and your vibration changes?

You’ve been walking and when an upbeat song plays your stride quickens and you have a pep to your step? Can you recollect a time where this has happened to you? Maybe you too have heard a song, and it transported you back in time to a special memory.

Music and Creativity

A Johns Hopkins University Study says, “If you want to firm up your body head to the gym. If you want to exercise your brain listen to music.” They share that if you want to stay young, it’s best to listen to or play music! Music has a way of jumpstarting creativity! Listen to music that your kids or grandchildren would listen to today. It forces the brain to understand a new sound which is a mental exercise.

Music and Alzheimer’s

There have also been studies that cite the power of music to help someone in the stages of Alzheimer’s. This article from the Alzheimers Association shares that playing music to an Alzheimer’s patient can help them to reduce agitation and behavioral issues that are associated with the middle stages of the disease.

It can also be a great way to connect with an individual where verbal skills are limited by clapping or dancing. Sometimes they may even recall the words to a familiar song and start singing!

Today is the day to dust off those vinyl records! Maybe even tune your piano and exercise your brain by learning a new song or playing a different genre of music. Better yet, play Stairway to Heaven on your phone right now!

When I am not attending the symphony, gardening or baking my favorite treats, I am coaching women towards their next chapter in life! What is that next step for you?

Have you been transported by music to places and times from the past? Is there that certain song or performer that takes you back to a special moment in your life? Music is like a time capsule! Perhaps you have even seen the power of music in the life of a loved one. I would love to hear your stories!

6 Steps to Restoring Balance After Retirement

After Retirement

Many of us have the tendency to head towards the finish line at work, telling themselves that they are going on an eternal holiday and the well-deserved rest they have earned over 40 years in the labor force.

But the morning after the retirement send-off brings with it a major shift in routine and structure that few people think through and plan carefully.

We all know what we give to our work, but what is it that work gives us? It gives us:

  • Routine
  • Security
  • Challenge and stimulation
  • Identity
  • A sense of belonging with people who speak the same ‘language’
  • Opportunity to grow
  • Opportunity to contribute to the world around us.

In my coaching practice I refer to the “Model of 6 Human Needs” to unpack what actually occurs at retirement. I then use it to help my clients re-structure and balance their lives.

This model is presented in the New Insights life coach training programme and is based on the original model conceptualized by Anthony Robbins.

In the coaching context, we look at how to balance these human needs in your everyday life.

Certainty

Certainty is about having routine and structure that give your life predictability and security. If you were to have too much certainty, you would become bored because everything would be planned to the last minute.

For some people, certainty after retirement comes with the routine of gym classes, walking or hiking that start the day; for others it may be Tuesday golf and Friday bridge.

For yet others, it may be a part-time job, mentoring or volunteering. If extra finance is what is going to give you security, finding an income will be a major aspect of building your certainty.

Variety

The challenges that stimulate you both physically and mentally give you variety. These would include meeting new people, learning new things, stepping outside your comfort zone.

A little bit of adrenaline is good for the body! Too much variety and you find yourself in crisis or stress management mode. That’s why we need to balance variety with a measure of certainty for a healthy lifestyle.

Significance

For around 40 years your identity has been rooted in your role at work. When people meet you in a social setting they tend to ask what you do as a means to starting the social chat.

This, therefore, becomes your identity – when I say I am a retirement coach people can then put me in context, and they have an idea of which questions they can ask next.

This becomes my identity and differentiates me from the person standing next to me and, by implication, gives me significance. When you retire it is important to take on a new identity to replace the one you had when working full time.

Love and Connection

In any profession there is a jargon you learn in order to fit in. Finding love and connection is more about feeling you belong than a hippie-style feeling of love. Having originally trained as an occupational therapist some 40 years ago, I left the profession at 35, but today I can still ‘speak the language’!

Even though I have not treated a patient in 30 years, I still feel that I fit in and belong when I meet other occupational therapists because I understand what they are talking about.

In retirement, you need to find people who are in the same position as yourself, who are experiencing the same challenges, in order to feel you ‘belong.’

Too much significance and we start to lose the love and connection, and vice versa.

Growth and Contribution

In your job and career you were learning new things all the time. If it was not attending structured courses or training, simply keeping up with the changing technological environment kept you on your toes.

In retirement, if you do not actively seek out opportunities to grow and contribute they probably will not come to you. Opportunities are all around. These could include volunteering or mentoring, starting an encore career, or simply re-structuring your regular working environment to suit your new lifestyle by consulting or working part-time.

But you need to actively seek them out. I find myself with no shortage of opportunities to grow because of the new and evolving concepts of digital marketing and networking in my coaching practice. To feel I am contributing I have signed up to mentor someone for the year.

I find this model a good place to start the process of replacing what you left behind at work when you retired.

What are some opportunities you have found in retirement? Do you feel more or less busy now than when you were working? Please join the conversation below.

8 Common Weight Loss Mistakes Women Over 60 Make

Weight-Loss-Mistakes-Women-Over-60-Make

I’m not going to lie. Losing weight over 60 is harder and takes longer than it was when we were younger. Our metabolism slows down, and even if you’ve kept in shape, you may not be able to move your body in all the ways you used to.

But
permanent weight loss is possible. I’ve helped many women in their 60s and
older lose weight.

To succeed, you need to forget the model you’ve used for your whole life. The one the diet industry has spent billions of dollars trying to convince you is the way to lose weight. What they don’t tell you is that research shows that you have a 3-5% chance of succeeding at losing weight and keeping it off by dieting.

Here
are 8 things to look out for that may be tripping you up:

You Restrict Entire
Food Groups or Forbid Yourself from Eating Your Favorite Foods

Food
restrictions go to the very core of diets, especially the biggest fads nowadays.
As if diets like Keto weren’t bad enough, all you need to do is spend a few
minutes on Pinterest to see some even crazier ideas, like the miraculous 14-day
boiled egg diet or the coffee diet.

It’s
unhealthy to eat tons of fat and no carbs or eat hard-boiled eggs all day. When
you don’t allow yourself certain foods, you want them even more. You even think
you like them more than you do.

This
restrictive approach to eating also creates one of the biggest barriers to
weight loss –
the scarcity mindset. That’s the totally false notion that food is scarce in
your life. But you create that scarcity when you don’t allow yourself to eat
what you love, and you set yourself up for a binge.

You Really Don’t
Know Why You Want to Lose Weight

Usually, you want to lose weight because we live in a world that discriminates against and shuns people who are overweight. Or so you can wear certain clothes, or look and feel sexier, or meet someone special.

But
you really need a clear vision of why you want to lose weight to keep you going
through a process that takes perseverance.

That
means you need to set goals you feel really good about. Ones that generate
positive emotions, like, “I want to be healthy so I can play with my
grandchildren and live to see them graduate from high school.”

You Expect to Do It
Perfectly

Another
unproductive mindset you learn from dieting is the need to do it perfectly. Diets
have lots of rules, and people like rules because it means they don’t have to
think. They can just do what someone else tells them to do.

But
humans are meant to think and question, and most of us get pretty sick of not
being able to decide what to eat after a while.

Strict
diet rules don’t allow you to live a normal life, attend parties, and
socialize. What’s the point of that? With rule-laden diets, we actually look
for an excuse to quit because we’re so miserable.

But
when you give up dieting and change your habits, quitting is the only way you
can fail.

The
thing is that no one who succeeds at permanent weight loss does this perfectly.
You’re learning new skills, new habits, and that always takes practice.

The
important thing is to do your best, learn from your mistakes so you don’t make
the same ones repeatedly, and get back on track. Because everyone gets off
track a little. Everyone. So, give up the idea that you can set out to
lose weight and do it perfectly.

You Eat to Avoid
Dealing with Negative or Difficult Feelings

It
doesn’t matter how you try to lose weight, or whether you even reach your goal –
if you don’t learn how to stop eating for emotional reasons, you’re going to
gain the weight back.

Eating
to avoid feeling your emotions – whether you’re sad, angry, frustrated, bored, or stressed out –
is what causes overweight in most people.

When
you eat for emotional reasons and you aren’t hungry, your body stores the
energy as fat. Those few people who manage to lose the weight but don’t stop
emotional eating gain the weight back. Every time.

Learning
how to feel your emotions and use healthy strategies to deal with them is
essential for permanent weight loss. Check out my 30 Days to
End Emotional Eating Forever
course for the tools to break
the habitual cycle of emotional eating.

You Believe You
Can’t Lose Weight

If
you’ve been dieting for a while, you’ve had more than your share of failures.
This is another horrible thing about diets – we think we’re the failure because we didn’t lose weight
on the diet. But it is really the diet that is the failure. The whole diet
method of weight loss sets you up for failure.

The
problem is that, because of confirmation bias, we try to prove that we’re right!
So, we believe we can’t lose weight, and when we mess up, we think,
“I knew it!” Do you really want to prove to yourself that you can’t lose
weight? Wouldn’t you rather prove yourself wrong?

To
shed your extra pounds, you need to start believing that you are capable of
doing this. Stop blaming yourself for the past. You failed because you didn’t
have the right tools.

Now
that you know diets aren’t the way to go, and that you need to change your
eating habits and stop emotional eating, believe that you can learn these new skills
and succeed. Seriously, you need to change your beliefs to change your
body.

You Think You Can
Hate Yourself Thin

You
can’t heal a body you hate. So many people think that if they are willing to
love or even just accept the body they have, they’ll have no motivation to
improve.

But think about this – when was the last time that hate-motivated anyone to do anything good? Are you really going to want to treat your body better if you hate it? Unlikely.

Start
appreciating all your body does for you. Be grateful for it. It may not be the
way you want it to be, but it has served you for many years and is the only one
you’ve got.

It’s
time to stop treating it badly by either starving it, depriving it of things it
needs (like carbs, beans, whole grains, fruits and vegetables), and to stop
giving it more food than it needs to function optimally and for you to feel
great.

Exercise
it daily, but not as punishment for what you ate. Exercise as a celebration of
all your body can do. Thank it and treat it with the respect it deserves.

You Expect Weight
Loss to Be Fast and Easy

There
are so many fast weight loss schemes online that I understand why people think it
should be easy to do. But if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

There
is no coffee drink that’s going to help you lose 15 pounds in 2 weeks. Losing
15 pounds in two weeks is a really bad idea anyway –
if you aren’t morbidly obese.

Don’t
get on the scale every day expecting the number to go down. If you choose to
weigh yourself, which I think is a great way to see whether what you’re doing
is working, then do it once a week.

Don’t
expect to drop more than a pound a week, although some people will lose more.
Some weeks, you may do everything perfectly and lose no weight.

Think
of where you’ll be a year from now if you stop overeating and emotional eating.
The time will pass anyway, and slow, healthy weight lost is much more likely to
stay off, especially since doing it this way fixes what caused you to be
overweight.

You Make Losing
Weight the Ultimate Goal

The
process of changing your habits and becoming healthier is so much more
important than the weight loss itself.

Since
tuning your eating habits to your body’s signals and avoiding emotional eating
is what will allow you to lose weight, you should focus on your progress in
making these changes.

When
you go to a restaurant and order what you really want, then leave half the
French fries because you’re honoring your body’s fullness signals, celebrate
that. Every time you don’t eat the candy in the candy bowl or the free food
just because it’s there, celebrate that.

Every
time you notice when you want to eat because you’re bored, and decide to do
something else, celebrate! You did it! Enjoy the process. Notice your progress
towards establishing your good eating habits.

When
you celebrate your little wins, your brain associates doing your new habit with
feeling good, and that makes it more likely that you’ll repeat the
behavior.

To get started on the right road, grab my free 8 Secrets for Permanent Weight Loss.

How
many diets have you tried thus far? Have you made any of these 8 mistakes?

have a conversation.
