Overlining lips isn’t new, but finding new more natural-looking ways to do it is. Lucky for you (and us), Hailey revealed the exact lip liner she likes to use when she’s in a rush and doesn’t have much time to do her makeup. She has posted multiple TikTok videos showing her makeup routine, and front and center was Make Up For Ever’s eye, lip & brow pencil. Did we mention it has a 25 percent discount—along with everything else on the brand’s site—during the sitewide friends and family sale? The sale runs through October 16, so don’t wait any longer to stock up on Hailey’s coveted lip liner.

“I like anything that’s multi-use, I feel like I’ve said that before. It just gets me,” Mrs. Bieber says in the TikTok. “But in this instance, I’m using it for my lips so I can overline them like I always do.” In the video, you can see Hailey lining the edges of her lips and overlining at the top of them. She says she follows her natural shape for the most part, except for the cupid’s bow area in the center where both of the arches meet.

Now that the cat’s out of the bag, we know what we’ll be shopping for next. We can’t wait to discover all of the ways to use Hailey’s fave multifunctional pencil.

Though the product name says you can apply this formula to your eyes, lips and brows, there are actually even more uses for it. Dab it on your cheeks for a hint of blush or contour your cheekbones with precision. This all-in-one pencil lets you create pretty much any look.

Each of the 16 shades is super pigmented and has a matte finish. They glide on like butter and blend easily. The best part about reaching for a pencil rather than a powder or lipstick is that it allows you to have much more control over where you place product.

It might be hard to decide which shade to shop for, but the exact one Hailey uses in her TikTok tutorial is Anywhere Caffeine, which is currently available and on sale at Make Up For Ever.

“Wherever Walnut has been a go-to lip liner for years. I am obsessed with it!” raved another five-star reviewer. “It is the perfect nude! Not too brown, not too pink. It glides on perfectly, has amazing staying power, and the pencil is perfect and you have great control while applying it.”

For a plump pout like Hailey’s, stock up on Make Up For Ever’s multi-use liner while it’s on sale for a limited time. And while you’re at it, another Hailey Bieber-approved product by the brand is marked down.

5 Ways to Overcome Indulgent Eating So You Can Drop Weight (+ Video!)

If you’re a woman in her 50s and beyond, you probably already know all the things you “should” be doing to keep weight and eating in check.

As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who has helped many women overcome indulgent eating and has personally struggled with eating for comfort and zoning out, I have a lot of empathy when I hear this scenario:

Despite all the dieting knowledge, you find yourself night after night with a pint of ice cream (or more) in front of the TV. In daylight, you beat yourself up for poor eating and later are filled with shame when the doctor brings up your weight during a check-up (unless you avoid the doctor for fear of that shame).

If I’ve just described your situation, or close to it, chin up, my friend. Today, I’m sharing 5 ways to overcome indulgent eating so you can lose weight. It is my hope you will be able to see beyond the self-blame to actual solutions to your struggle.

#1: Give Yourself a Break

I’ve got news for you. The reason you struggle with food and weight has very little to do with self-control!

Instead, the problem is All or Nothing Dieting, where you either believe you have to “eat perfectly” or “what’s the point?”.

The most prevalent plan for weight loss today, All or Nothing Dieting, disconnects you from your body and emotions, blaming you when you inevitably backslide to “all” the eating.

When you take the focus off berating yourself for every slip-up, you’re able to productively problem-solve.

#2: Calm Your Nervous System

In the moment of a craving, where you are doing the mental gymnastics to justify the eating (“I don’t really care about changing anyway, what’s one time going to matter?”), whether you are aware of it or not, your body is experiencing panic.

This panic, along with food anxiety, is a sign your nervous system is activated. Research shows an activated nervous system leads to more food cravings and eating less healthy, comforting foods.

And All or Nothing Dieting? The restriction activates your nervous system, too.

#3: Eat Enough Food During the Day

All or Nothing Dieting rewards you for skipping meals or eating very little. And that usually backfires as your hunger catches up to you, and when paired with anxiety that results from unstable blood sugar, you’ve got a recipe for panic eating.

Eating enough food during the day to meet your energy and nutrition needs can go a long way to curbing indulgent eating, especially if you struggle with late afternoon or nighttime eating.

Most women over 50 are served well by focusing on protein intake to preserve muscle and bone health and eating an abundance of produce for its disease-fighting properties. You can consult a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to get specific nutrient recommendations.

#4: Decode Your Craving

Many people believe their eating or cravings are mindless or habitual, when actually food cravings are a signal from your body about an underlying need.

The reason you may be unaware of the emotional need your cravings are signaling is because indulging with food gives you a rush of feel-good dopamine, effectively numbing the underlying discomfort (especially when eating takes the form of binging).

It is possible to discern your emotional needs and care for them when they surface so the food craving never occurs.

#5: Cultivate the Courage to Trust

Hopefully, by now you can see that your indulgent eating is not happening because you are lazy, but rather as a result of All or Nothing Dieting which stops you from trusting yourself around food because it changes your mental and biological responses to eating.

The tips I’ve shared today are all steps on the journey to cultivate the Courage to Trust yourself again.

With the Courage to Trust, you can create calm, consistently healthy eating patterns that leave you feeling peaceful and free in your body, with the confidence you are doing everything you can for your health.

You can start your journey towards cultivating the Courage to Trust by downloading this 10-minute audio guide to stop your food craving from turning into indulgent eating today!

6 Reasons Why Reducing Our Waste Is Crucial for Our Grandchildren’s Future

reducing waste grandchildren future

If you’re worried about the world your children and grandchildren will inherit, you’re not alone. Global warming, an ocean with more plastic than fish and toxic air that can cause diseases. These are just a few things that we could pass onto future generations if we’re not careful.

Humanity at large believes that creating a better future stems from education. If we know where the issues come from, then we can make the right changes to help improve our world.

That’s why, in this article, we’ll shine light on the current situation and how we can leave a positive legacy for our future generations.

What’s Wrong with the World Today?

Here’s the problem: plastic doesn’t biodegrade and only 9% is recycled. This means that every single piece of plastic that has ever been produced still exists in our world today. And where does this plastic go, if it’s not recycled?

The only three places that plastic can end up are the oceans, landfills or incarnated in the air.

Each of these destinations can cause a damaging impact on our world and health. Here are the six reasons why reducing our waste is so important for our future generations’ world:

Reducing Waste Protects Our Oceans

Every minute of the year, truckloads of plastic are dumped into our oceans. And this doesn’t just come from waste near the coastline. Your waste can end up in the ocean no matter where you are.

Rubbish can be blown away while being transported to landfills, and if it ends up in our drains, this leads to the ocean. If you’ve heard of microplastics (the smaller pieces of plastic which are broken down from bigger pieces), these also enter our drains which again, end up in our sea.

That’s why it’s been said that there is more microplastic in the ocean than there are stars in the Milky Way and that by 2050, there will be more plastic in our ocean than fish.

This is reason enough to change our behavior. If we want our families to go on vacation to beaches with white sands and aqua sea, we need to reduce our waste.

This Prevents Plastic from Entering Our Food Chain

With more plastic floating in our ocean, there’s no surprise that fish have been shown to mistake it for their own food. This means that fish are ingesting plastic instead of plankton and therefore plastic is entering our food chain.

In fact, according to the University of Plymouth, 70% of all deep-sea fish have been said to have ingested plastic, and ⅓ of all UK-caught fish have been found to contain plastic in their bellies.

So, if you eat fish, there’s a high chance you might consume plastic (along with all the chemicals) too.

Let’s reduce our waste so less enters our ocean and, therefore, our food chain. We don’t choose to eat plastic so let’s keep it that way!

Reducing Our Waste Helps Us – and Our Children – Live a Healthier Life

Plastic poses a serious threat to our personal health and well-being and covering food in plastic wrap can affect our health.

Plastic packaging leaks toxic BPA chemicals into our food, water and home environments. These toxins can cause serious damage, with studies showing severe adverse health outcomes like cancer, birth defects and impaired immunity.

By choosing fresh food instead of pre-made and pre-packaged meals, you’ll reduce the amount of plastic packaging that comes into contact with your food.

And if you want to store pre-made food, choose reusable beeswax wraps instead of plastic wraps to avoid chemicals seeping into yours (or your children’s) food.

We know that packed lunches are a necessity for our kids, or grandkids, but using plastic-free alternatives can have a much better effect on their health.

It Keeps Our Air Clean and Reduces Our Risk of Cancer

Some people believe one answer to reducing the amount of waste in our world is burning it – but, in fact, it can have severe impact on our health.

Burning plastic releases many toxic chemicals into our air. The process produces dioxins and furans which have been shown to disrupt our hormones and even cause cancer. In addition, styrene gas can also be released which impacts our nervous system too.

That’s why we believe in using less plastic – rather than burning what we have. By keeping our air clean, we’ll create a better environment for our family to breathe in – and can help us keep cancer away.

Cutting Back on Unnecessary “Stuff” Helps Slow Down Climate Change

Waste that is stored in landfills releases greenhouse gases in the air that can lead to climate change.

Landfills produce the greenhouse gas, methane, which absorbs the sun’s heat. In fact, over the short term, methane traps 84 times more heat in our atmosphere than carbon dioxide.

So, by sending less waste to landfills we’ll reduce the level of methane that’s produced in our world – which, in turn, will slow down climate change.

It Can Even Save Us Money

Going zero waste can do wonders to your bank account! You can save a huge amount of money buying a lot less ‘stuff’, as you’ll stop spending money on the things you don’t really need.

By no longer buying those unnecessary possessions and opting for reusable and sustainable products, you can live a more simple, minimalist way of living – and save money in the process.

Reducing Your Waste Doesn’t Have to Be Hard

Once you understand what it means to go less-waste and even zero-waste, then it won’t be hard. It’s all about refusing what you don’t need, and reducing, reusing & recycling what you do use. That’s it.

Reducing your waste will help keep our ocean clean, protect our marine life, save animals and slow down climate change.

If we don’t make any changes, and if plastic production continues at the current rate, we can only pray for the world our kids will inherit. If we all make small changes, then together we will make a huge difference.

Let’s Have a Conversation:

What do you do to reduce your waste? Which items to you reuse, and which do you throw away? What steps do you think you can take to lower your waste? Please join the conversation below.

Finding Happiness at Any Age Depends on These 6 Things

finding happiness

As Dalai Lama once said, “Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.” Throughout life, we experience ups and downs with happiness. According to a recent study, happiness often declines from young adulthood through middle age, with self-reported happiness bottoming out around age 50.

Interestingly, later in the mid-60s, individuals reported their happiness levels were heading back up. The key question is, how do you keep that positive trajectory going later in life?

While there are so many things we cannot control – from losing a loved one to overcoming a certain health condition or even an unexpected life change like a cross-country move – there are still many things we can do to keep us living each day to the fullest.

Stay Present

Making a conscious effort to focus on what is happening in the present, versus past events or anxieties about the future, will keep you focused on making the most out of the day – even hour – you are in.

Staying present also means avoiding dwelling on what is not happening. Those who reported being unhappy focused on what was not happening as much as what was happening, and as they say, comparison is the enemy of joy.

Keep Moving

Arguably, the best way to improve your mood is to prioritize exercise at every age. Exercise sends endorphins and feel-good hormones throughout your body that naturally boost your mood. Block time off in your day to join a group fitness class or go on a daily walk with a friend around your neighborhood.

Not only will this add physical movement to your day, but it will add social fulfillment to your life. If you are concerned about your physical abilities, speak with your physician to create a plan that is right for you.

Be a Lifelong Learner

Having an active mind can lead to a longer, happier life. Read books on new topics, learn the language you always wished to master, take an online class. As important as it is to move your body every day, it is just as important to engage in lifelong, purposeful learning. Learning also keeps your mental health in check and can strengthen synapses that support memory and emotion.

Get the Support You Need

Whether it be a pandemic, unexpected loss, or the stress of moving out of your home, life distresses are inevitable. The more you practice healthy ways to navigate difficult situations, the happier you will be.

Strategies to help you cope could include mediation, breathing exercises, talking to a friend or loved one, reaching out to a spiritual mentor, joining a support group, or seeing a therapist. The more prepared you are to handle tough emotions and events, the happier you will be as you come out the other side.

Nurture Your Relationships

Nurturing relationships in your life bring you joy and leave you feeling fulfilled. For many, these relationships are steady life partners, supportive friends and family, and community groups. Finding the community that is there to support you, grow with you, and that you can count on will fulfill the human need for belonging. Surround yourself with others that are happy, as studies have shown that the happiness can spread to you.

Activate Your Bucket List

Always wanted to visit Paris, try a polar plunge, learn to paint or pick up an instrument from childhood? Book the trip you have been putting off and do the things you haven’t done! Not only will this give you new memories that last a lifetime, but you will also experience joy from honoring your true self and ambitions. After all, you have one life, so why not live it chasing your dreams?

No matter your age – happiness is a lifelong journey. Go live the life you’ve always wanted and share your zest for life with those around you. Lose yourself in something you love.

Let’s Have a Conversation:

When was the last time you were unhappy? Why? What does happiness mean to you? What activities bring you joy? How will you chase joy this week?
